Typhoons In East and Southeast Asia
Typhoons
Typhoons are circular storms that occur all over the world in tropical areas. In the North Atlantic ocean these storms are called huricanes. In the North Pacific they are known as typhoons. They are created in tropical waters near the equator. A typhoon starts out as a tropical thunderstorm, but then the winds suck up moisture from the ocean and turns it into heat. The heat makes air go trough the storm and causes evaporation. all of the heat goes to the center or the eye creating the typhon.
Some scientists say that global warming will increase the number of typhons. regions near the equator are being hit by more and more typhons then before.
Most typhons occur in islands near the equator in December through April. They hit islands about 10 and 25 degres from the equator.

THE EFFECT ON PEOPLE
Typhoons are destructive forces in nature that usually leave people homeless. Typhoon winds are strong. They rip trees from their roots and throws them all over the place. After a storm you will probably find things from miles away in your backyard. Waves from the ocean get dangerously high. Sometimes during a typhoon there are floods that destroys houses. Most houses have etal covers to keep windows from breaking. Families usually have survival kits incase of there house being knocked down.the kits usually include: food, spare clothes, water, flashlights, a radio, pet food if you have pets, and money. Kits have different supplies depending on the family. Many ople lose there lives in typhoons. Typhoons are as bad as hurricanes.
